KARACHI: Due to rains in Sindh, onion prices have surged 100 percent in two days, local TV channels reported on Monday.
President Anjuman Wholesale Vegetable Market Karachi Haji Shahjahan told that onion crops in Badin, Sanghar, Nasarpur and Tando Allahyar had been devastated by rains as a result supply of the commodity had been suspended in the vegetable market.
He said owing to this price of onion has climbed to Rs 1500 from Rs 700 per maund in two days. Its retail price had soared to Rs 35 from Rs 15 per kg.
