Pakistan gold prices soar following global fears

KARACHI: Pakistan gold prices maintained its upward drive and recorded its fresh peak on Monday in major cities of Pakistan following the record surge in international gold prices.


In Karachi, Gold prices recorded its new level of prices and closed at Rs. 54,850 per tola. The price of 10 grams gold also remained on higher side and recorded at Rs. 47,014.


On the other hand, silver price remained intact at Rs. 1,071.42 per 10 gram.


The price of London gold 1500-fix witnessed around $ 1709.75.


In International market, Gold surged more than 3 percent on Monday, surpassing $1,700 an ounce for the first time after Standard & Poor's cut the top-notch AAA credit rating of the United States, setting off an investor stampede for safety. Gold vaulted above $1,700 an ounce for the first time on Monday after pledges by the G7 and the European Central Bank to quell the turbulence in the financial markets did nothing to put investors at ease.
