ECC approves Rs 160bln swap deal and purchase of sugar

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) on Friday has taken major decisions that includes, approved debt swap of Rs 160 billion on behalf of Independent Power Producers with the commercial banks, allowed purchase of 100,000 tonnes of sugar directly from millers to ensure timely payment to growers and loaning facility to farmers with immediate effect.
