Global PTA industry faces hard time

KARACHI: The global PTAindustry is facing major hardships as the aggressive Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) capacity expansion is about to come online in the year 2012 outpacing the supply addition of Paraxylene (PX), the major raw material for PTA and erosion in the global demand of the textile products.
As per ICIS, the Asian PTA capacity will enhance by 14.5 million tons during the 2011-2013 as compared to 7 million tons of PX addition without any major increase in the expected demand by the textile manufacturers, said by analyst at Arif Habib Limited.
